Pick Up The Pieces

Came across a small jigsaw at the back of a cupboard yesterday and remembered I’d found it when I cleared out my late father’s desk. The plan was to do it and then pass it on to a charity shop or sell it at a car boot sale.
Three years later, and I’ve finally got round to it! For such a small puzzle, it took a surprisingly long time as most of the pieces are just of green grass. My method is to do the outside first and then work inwards, leaving the easy cricket bat detail until the end. A few hours later and it was complete. At which point Mrs C asked if she could have a go, so back into pieces it went.
Mrs C has a different approach to me. She completed the bat in record time but for the past few hours - not continuously, I hasten to add - she has struggled to fit all the other (similarly coloured and shaped) pieces into place!
And that level of frustration sort of sums up today. Plans for a day out were scuppered when we got up later than intended. And plans for an afternoon out were abandoned when a simple task like buying a pint of milk resulted in having to visit three different supermarkets to get what I wanted. No idea why skimmed milk seems to be in such short supply!
We ended up cutting our losses and just popping out to Dodleston to put flowers on Mrs C’s parents grave. Even that was more hassle than it normally is, due to the temporary one way system in Chester whilst they replace some drains. I say “temporary” but they don’t look like they’ll be finished any time soon!
Eventually got back to the flat, and Mrs C immediately resumed the jigsaw. But after another hour, she is still no nearer to completing it, and is now convinced she has put one of the green pieces in the wrong place. But which one…..?
