jeni and the beans

By themessymama

Seems so long ago already...

Mothers' Day, that is. Seems such a long time ago. This is one of the daffodils Steve helped Bean pick from the garden for me, that I have enjoyed looking at while everybody has been poorly. The "family" painting is on the wall behind the kitchen table at the moment. I like it there. Another bright happy splash of colour.

Bean's been out today, playing at a friend's house - they have been pirates all day, and soldiers, and they forgot to put their gloves on to play in the garden, and Bean had melty cheese on toast for lunch (incredible!) and while he was out the Bear and I went shopping and spent our reward points on groceries and bought the biggest piece of ham we've ever bought, I made a batch of sweet and sour sauce, we had baked camembert for lunch along with the sourdough I made yesterday, and Steve carried on sorting out the office / spare room. It's looking pretty impressive in there again now. Actual real space!! And we went for a cold and damp walk into town to give Bear a chance to sleep as he showed no signs of wanting to sleep while we were at home. He slept. Two and a half hours. Bedtime was fun.

Bear has been really happy today. Even with Bean out. He's played with things, investigated, considered, discovered. He's taken to picking up a small (pretty heavy) stool and carrying it around to enable him to reach things, or just to give him something to sit on. He's getting pretty canny, that boy. Slowly discovering that signs are helpful, rather than simply squawking until we figure out what he wants.

Bear's crochet blanket is actually coming along faster now. Far from doing one square per week and finishing by Christmas, I actually managed two full squares today! Of course everything else has been neglected ;)
