Castle Stalker

A beautiful, warm, sunny day.

After lunch out with our granddaughter we headed north via Oban, to just outside Fort William. On the way we stopped at Castle Stalker near Port Appin. I remembered that Maurice, the Grumpy Old Man, had blipped from here and I thought it looked so romantic. It certainly is set in a stunning location, surrounded by water with a background of the Ardnamurchan Mountains. Built in the 1300’s it saw several changes of ownership between two clans over the centuries.

It is privately owned now, but it is not really accessible from land.

I have added photos of our trip from Lochgilphead to Benavie. They include my granddaughter and my wife, a stop for a cup of tea at Loch Melfort, Ben Nevis and the Locks of the Caledonian Canal at Jupiter’s Staircase. See them here:
