Bring your mum to work day

This is Luke in action at his work..as Packing Manager at Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts in the old Leith Theatre. A charity set up during lockdown, it turns surplus food into meals seven days a week and delivers them to homes across Edinburgh by bike and car.

I had volunteered for a packing shift this morning and really enjoyed it. We packed up 777 meal bags which contained soup and a main course freshly prepared by the kitchen team plus bread and a snack. These were put into crates and cool boxes to be transported around the city. There was also hot food service outside the theatre from 12-1 for anybody wanting to turn up for a meal and there would be another meal served in the evening. Volunteers work around the clock to make, pack and deliver meals and there is a real need for more…so if you live in Edinburgh and have time to spare, please consider it :-)

Luke was working all day so at lunchtime I walked to Leith Docks and then back to Portobello. I had my hair cut in the afternoon (see extra) and then went for another walk along the beach. Sarah also had a chop today - 12 inches of her hair  cut off and donated to the Little Princess Trust :-)

Tonight Luke and I have had an Indian takeaway and played a couple of games of chess (I played very badly and lost both times).
