Finding My Bearings

By JustJuli

Tipping point?

I usually bag up our garden waste and take it to the tip. With a third of an acre of green stuff to keep under control, including almost half a kilometre of hedging that needs cutting twice a year, it’s a big operation, requiring many trips in the car over an entire weekend.

The last time I went to the tip I got a right rollicking from the staff, was accused of trying to pass off my ‘business’ waste as ‘household’, and they made me fill a form in before I was allowed to go back with any more hedgecuttings. I’m not in the mood for that nonsense at the moment so I burnt it instead.

In view of the appalling events at Kabul Airport, I’m sure my contribution to global warming today is the least of our planet’s worries.
