Crail Harbour, East Neuk of Fife

Today Geordie and I, and our friend Mary-Ann set off for Crail, where we parked the car and set off on the coastal path, back towards Cellardyke.
The sun was shining and there was blue sky, with few people around.  Perfect.
We walked as far as Caiplie Caves (Extra).  The caves have been cut and worn by the sea over many centuries.  The site was first used for worship in the ninth century.  Later pilgrims and monks would stop off here on their way to St Andrews.

Then we walked back along the path to Crail, where we made our way down to the tiny, historic fishing harbour.  They say it is the most photographed and painted harbour in Scotland.  We got lovely paninis and drinks from the small tearoom on the way down to the harbour.  There`s a small building at the harbour where you can chose your lobster from a tank.  It is then cooked for you and served for you to eat at tables along the pier.  It was low tide when we arrived, but we watched as the tide slowly crept in and gave lovely reflections of the boats and harbour houses.  (Extra)
Then we wandered back to the car and home again.  I`m really enjoying showing Mary-Ann around the East Neuk.  In a few months she will be heading south again.
