Heatwave returns

After a chilly August, the late summer heat returned with great enervation today.

I did my first voluntary night shift here very early this morning. I heard owls hooting loudly and kept a watchful eye for hedgehogs on the way home.

My younger sister and husband called in to our rental house for coffee. A further reminder of how convenient these spontaneous family meet ups are, now we are living in the south again.

We walked 2.5 miles round the village in the slightly cooler late afternoon and now we are enjoying our evening meal in the back garden. (My blip was taken on that walk.)

England men’s cricket team were beaten on the fifth day by India in a match they should have won! In this 24/7 social media mad world I am pleasantly surprised that a game that last five days still commands global tv and radio audiences and of course the all important sponsorship!
