Snowonderwall
Amazingly, despite the strong winds and virtually non stop snow last night, there was very little to clear in order to get the car out this morning. Much had drifted into a few places off the road thankfully.
The main road was more or less clear this morning on the way to Grace's ballet lesson, thanks to diligent council gritting and snow ploughing (not often you hear that but they're usually pretty clued up about it on main routes here in Northumberland. Through necessity I guess!). The snow was piled several feet high at the sides of the road in places and up to the tops of the stone walls. In some areas it had drifted into the road again but there were tracks through it to follow. The buses kept running and the postman still did his rounds. Everyone bundled up and got on with it. And we all made it to the last ballet class of the term in one piece.
Three miles up the valley at the farm my sister and brother in law had to battle much worse conditions to get home to Durham today but thankfully managed to get out and paid us a visit en route with Easter eggs for the girls.
Hubby isn't feeling at all well today and has been out of action all afternoon and evening. Arwen isn't too great either, but she put away heaps of puréed pear and sweet potato for tea tonight so hopefully she's on the mend.
The other two girls had no intention of going out in the sub zero gales to sledge or build snowmen this afternoon. Instead they created a supermarket in the living room. As you do.
