Morning after....

I don't generally speak to her a) very often and b) before school but we spoke this morning before school. She was quite grumpy, she knew her "should be my best day" day was going to suck. But her tutor emailed me this morning saying she was bright and cheerful during morning choir - even though they'd told her she wasn't allowed to sing.

She was supposed to be going to the doctors today but this didn't happen. I spoke to her again this evening (thinking to find out what the doctor had said...) and she was very tired and sore by that point.

She did her academic music lesson, did part of the drama class, "helped" with hockey and for practice she'd played the piano in one session and the ukulele in the other. They let her swim in the shallow end of the pool during the y7 party. Im not thrilled that they ignored the medical advice.

She does seem to have mellowed to the new house parent a little. She said she'd gone to see her earlier because she felt sad and very sore and had been grateful for a hug.

Today's extra drama was a campus wide lockdown. The local police called the school to say they'd been notified of someone with a weapon in the vicinity. Katie couldn't describe it other than "hibernating". Her and her friend were the only kids who'd gone in to the boarding house so it ended up being them and a load of staff who came into theirs as the nearest house.

I'm hoping she sleeps well and long tongiht and wakes up a bit less sore tomorrow. Bruising surely is done coming out by now right...?!
