Fyrnish Monument
Checked out this morning from the fabulous http://www.mobile.lochview-guesthouse.co.uk/ loch view guesthouse. We were in room 1 the first room on the pics with the mirror to the right of the bed. The breakfast are amazing really it’s like a boutique hotel I would say. Said goodbye to Fiona and Derrick and said we would be back. Tip- if anyone wants a room always check their own website as it’s cheaper than say, Booking, sometimes, this place was 80 a night and it was 100 on booking.
Drove to the Forestery Commission car park for our walk up to this fabulous monument. Took us 2 hours in all and the views were superb! Saw nigg bay and Invergorden with a cruise ship sitting berthed up. By the time we got back to car and faffed about it was time to check in (2pm) to the macdonald Drumossie Hotel. They called to ask if we wanted to book a table as was filling up fast, which I thought was a lie but later on realised it wasn’t HA just as well we booked!
As the hotel was on the outskirts of Inverness we thought we would revisit Dores on Loch Ness. Last time here was June 2008 where we took Breagha on her first holiday at 12 weeks old. I remember we took her cage for her to sleep in , in our room at the two B and Bs we stayed in . Breagha was housetrained in one week (clever) so there was no issues there. I recall asking the ow er of one of them if they took dogs and she said yes but was a bit concerned when we appeared with her at breakfast but it was all good the other guests were happy with a pup in residence :). She had her first experience of cows on that holiday and also a red squirrel darted cheekily in front of her in the gardens of the B and B . Look at her in the extras on that holiday with her wee whiskers just growing in (we always trimmed them and eyelashes as per Sheila’s instruction). We had good memories of being back at Dores.
Ohhhh the meal at the hotel was fab. Really tenderly cooked chicken breast escapes me and this one I had was melt in mouth and a great choice of differently cooked veg and something else done to the fondant tats. It wasn’t pretentious food just very well Scottish fare expertly done. S had triple cooked chips with his steak but I want jealous one little bit…..
We are exhausted by 930/10pm so after a wee sit in their lounge it was time for sleep.
