I Me Mine

A late blip today, due to only having just returned home from an exhilarating afternoon doing the “Via Ferrata Extreme” activity at Honister Slate Mine. More of this in due course as I bought a usb (somewhat pricey at £15!) containing all the pictures that the instructor took during the activity, but haven’t had time yet to look at them - other than a very hurried glance at the slide show they had playing in reception, just to confirm I did actually feature somewhere. Hopefully there will be something dramatic I can use for tomorrow’s blip.
It had been another early start as the tiler was back for the third day. We also had a visit from the carpet supplier, just to check the measurements, as it was now three years since our original order! Luckily, it was pretty much as originally measured, just a minor tweak to the bedroom being required.
Even though I wasn’t due at Honister until 3, we set off early with a view to stopping in Keswick for lunch. Big mistake! I’d heard horror stories about how busy it had been this summer, but thought it might have quietened down a bit by now. But the town was very crowded, with large queues at most restaurants and pubs. We had to go away from the centre to find somewhere quiet for a coffee and a sandwich.
Honister itself was pretty busy with people visiting the various attractions and activities. There was no provision for Mrs C to watch while I was clambering around, but she reckoned there was more than enough to keep her occupied for the three hours I would be away.
We took the scenic route back to Kendal and, due to the lateness of the hour, treated ourselves to a Chinese for tea. And we were absolutely thrilled to get through the door and find that the all the tiles are now on the walls. If the grouting can be done tomorrow then the job will be completed a day ahead of schedule. Just goes to show how much more quickly the tiler can get on without me chatting to him about cars, motorsport and rock music!
