Biomimicry
Today it’s a return visit to the V&A, the highlight of which - at least for me - is meeting Ai-Da, the world’s first artist robot. She is wearing a gown which will grow and fall apart during the course of the exhibition. It is beautiful, growing crystals and glittering with an array or organic materials. Ai-Da does little other than blink alluringly, but we are assured that tomorrow she will be drawing on the desk in front of her. https://www.vam.ac.uk/event/B2dBv5lN/ldf-sept-2021-ddw-auroboros
It’s a part of the London Design Festival which sees us also exploring the aluminium pavilion Between Forest and Skies (https://nebbia.works/Between-Forests-and-Skies,
and wandering around the Constable gallery wearing a virtual reality headset watching a virtual dancer creating visual patterns through her brainwaves - weird but wonderful.
And we’re also introduced to the work of Scarlett Yang - an amazing young designer working in the area of biomimicry. The following link is a wonderful insight into her beautiful designs.

We finish the day with a performance of Abram Khan’s new ballet, Creature - the main reason for our visit. I love his choreography - and this does not disappoint, but it is an unremittingly depressing piece focusing on man’s destruction of the environment and his inhumanity to man. Brilliant dancing, but with limited opportunities to lift the soul!
Self-evidently, today’s main is Ai-da, with extras of her ‘dress’, and of Between Forest and Skies.
Apologies it the writing’s rather flat today, but I’m just wanting to get this posted!
Thanks for your lovely comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s deer - I’m sorry if I haven’t yet responded!
