Not quite as planned..

Left the campsite early so we could watch the boat being put back in the water before we drove home. Hadn't gone far before I had a phonecall from C - it had happened much earlier than scheduled because they needed space to crane a damaged boat out and onto a transporter. Difficult to get near the stretch of the canal further along from the road so we just headed for the M6 and home. Disappointing not to see C & admire their handiwork - & my planned Blip for the day gone!! Have added a picture of the boat while still undercover, before they put the windows back in, which C sent me, & a screen clip from a video of the launch taken by the boatyard as extras.

The damaged boat had been rammed in the stern by a hire boat while peacefully moored on a wide stretch of canal. As the owner wasn't aboard at the time the hire boat left a note & went on its way. The rudder had been smashed and the contents of the boat thrown around by the impact - further damage may come to light when it's inspected properly. At least the hire company (or its insurers) organised the recovery of the damaged boat fairly rapidly, though the owner was understandably distraught.
