As the sun slowly sets on another mining boom
The Pilbara is famous for beautiful desert scenery but even more famous for iron ore.
Most miners are fifo workers (fly in - fly out) drawn from all over. Mines are vast open cuts, often with their own airfields. Mining runs in boom - bust cycles. The most recent boom is coming to an end.
We were struggling to get a single image that represented the Pilbara. After some debate we came up with this one.
It’s the sun setting on a couple of those giant mining trucks and the vapour trail left as a jet flys out.

Strangely, the Silverback seems to have forgotten about it. Alzheimer’s can be a blessing in disguise sometimes!
