“Derelict” Panhouse, Salt Pans, St Monans #DS265
There are plans underway to rebuild this panhouse. St Monans now produces salt again. The windmill produced the power to heat the boilers in the panhouses.
The island in the centre distance is the Isle of May, looking like an alligator.
I’ve had a great day chatting and eating with Debbie. We covered an awful lot of subjects. I don’t know why no one has elected us as politicians- we could sort the country out! I’m sure Boris’s ears must have been burning. What a waste of time it was having him on Andrew Marr this morning. He finds it totally impossible to answer a question.
Early this evening Geordie and I went across to the park to play with his ball. We met friends there so he had a great run. Unfortunately, as he has done many times before, he decided he preferred Hecta’s ball to his own. His was just a manky old tennis ball, whereas the other ball was a bright clean Chukka ball. So tomorrow we will return the ball.
After that we walked along the Coastal Path to St Monans. The light was terrific and seemed to be changing every five minutes. In the shade it was pretty chilly but in the sun we at least got some warmth. We met only one couple, so lovely and quiet.
I remember last year thinking we had moved from summer straight into winter, and it feels the same this year. Or maybe I just need to wear more clothes. It’s like that saying, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing”, or something along these lines.
The second Extra was taken as we were heading towards the windmill, with the underside of the clouds lit up by the sun.
In the final Extra the village in the distance is Pittenweem.
