Winter counter attack
Not much chance for pics today. I thought I'd put this in as some may be interested in what spiked MTB tyres look like. For the technically interested these ones have got tungsten carbide spikes in a core of alloy imbedded into each knob. For the technically interested with borderline Aspergers (like me): there are 361 spikes on each tyre.
They make a heck of noise on tarmac but work amazingly well in ice and hard packed snow. I wish I'd had some when, many years ago I rode down the Mt Hutt ski road (in NZ) in mid winter with one of my brothers. We tried to do it at speed, over taking cars, full of hubris until we were all over the place, difficulty making the corners, crashing. Sounds a bit stupid when I think about it now!
