Todays Jobs

Apart from Buddy and Hendrix arriving at 07:30, Taking Hendrix to school just before 09:00, going to get Joanne from work (I missed Daniels SMS text message saying he could get her!), I picked up another 130 edging bricks after dropping Hendrix off.
brought them home, laid them out, Marlane jet-washed them and then sprayed them with bleach.
After the boys had gone home we started on another project, a path around the back of the bushes.
First of all, had to clear a load of leaves from the Bay Laurel, they are like rubber and don't seem to rot away, or at least they take a loooooong time.
After raking the route of the path it left a lot of exposed soil. It used to be very clay when we moved in 25 years ago but, with all of the debris from various trees and bushes, the soil is lovely and soft, loamy, and rich.
So rich it is full of worms, which the Robin appreciated very much of course. He/She is one of three Robins we regularly see in our garden, can't begrudge them a few worms. I expect they know it's their purpose in life, as well as soil conditioning.
After preparing the bed I started laying the bricks. Marlane helped, carrying bricks to me despite having a terrible fall from the steps in the archway, hitting the low wall on the way down. She has some very nasty bruises and cuts but also a very painful ankle which doesn't actually show much sign of injury, maybe that's the worst kind.
We'll see how it is during the night, might have to run her to A&E if it gets worse.
Meanwhile, the path was much easier than I expected. It's just laid onto the soil, which is quite compacted an inch or so down. We've also made a square half way so the children can sit and have a picnic, or just play dinosaurs. I think they'll love it.
The picture is a bit dark but it was after 18:00 when we finished so the sun was setting fast.
