Lone Tree, Shareshill
Still no sign of the snow disappearing, with sub zero temperatures overnight and the thermometer hardly registering a positive number during the day. I was up early and had planned out a walk over an area I have driven passed regularly for 30 years without ever stopping and getting out.
A footpath led from the road into a field often used for car boot sales, then onwards to some small pools in a shallow depression. This tree stood on a low ridge just beyond. The light was as you can see in the image, the interesting thing is that this glow was to the west, not coming from the rising sun in the east.
I ummed and ahhed about putting this into black and white but in the end I felt the the red soil and creamy glow added to the composition.
