My Autumn Almanac
A busy day at my Mother's home. My sister and I did some useful gardening jobs which included putting the netting screen over the pond to catch falling leaves which would other wise clog up the pond. We also put Peter the tortoise, in his bed of hay, in the shed for the winter.
It made me think of the Kinks' "Autumn Almanac"
The hen pheasant I blipped yesterday was back in the garden and fearlessly came up to me, which makes me think she was possibly hand reared. She needs to become more wary, or she'll end up as dinner for a local fox or sparrow hawk.
Later on, I drove my Mother and sister to a local hospital so my Mother could have a couple more little skin cancers removed, this time from her scalp. Apparently, on this occasion the surgeon has used dissolvable stitches so fortunately no further attention is required. After I had dropped off the ladies at the hospital I drove back to Winchester and they got a taxi back to my Mum's house once the procedure was completed.
Tonight my husband treated me by making us these delicious puff pastry tarts with red onion, balsamic vinegar, feta cheese, olives and basil.
