Red Day at Red Rock
The sun shone today and we saw why this place we are visiting is called Red Rock. The rocky headland consists of fine grained sedimentary rocks, some of which are stained deep red colour (see extra). Geologists say this is caused by iron oxide, which probably came from undersea volcanic activity at the time the sediments were deposited, around 400 million years ago. It was very peaceful today, after thunderstorms yesterday and overnight.
