A great day out.
Went with my daughter and son in law to Foxton Locks - the longest and steepest staircase of locks in the country. In 1810 ten locks were back breakingly carved by hand and they raise boats 75ft up a steep escarpment. It takes a boat 45 minutes to go through all the locks and we were lucky to see boats going both up and down through the locks. Had a great pub lunch by the side of the canal with a fantastic jazz band playing.
