Too many boats

Scotland trip day 26 .

Over the border again today and a visit to Holy Island. This mysterious tidal island off Northumberland’s coast becomes inaccessible when the tide washes over its causeway. 


A great deal busier than our last visit, I expect the weather brought them out - 16° - perfect for our picnic lunch. 

We visited the Priory and the Castle but my favourite - you guessed it -  the harbour and the many boat sheds. The redundant herring boats are turned upside down and covered in tar for waterproofing and used for storage.

One more day of exploring before we finally set off for home on Tuesday.
