Diary of an Edinburgher

Window shopping

JR had a rest from her gym this morning. She deserved it. She even deserved toast and coffee in bed, with her iPad, reading the Sunday papers. Archie went out with Becky and Daniel, while I must have done something, but can’t actually remember…

I do remember getting a phone call to cancel our flu jabs this afternoon. Again. The young chap took pity on my cries of ‘Not again!’, so told me to ring him tomorrow at his pharmacy and he’d fit us in this week.

It was a nice day, so we wandered down town. Archie was happy to stay at home with his bone, having been out all morning. We went to the St James Quarter for a look around to see what was new. There are so many shops still to come, and JR kept exclaiming as she saw yet another new, exciting store coming. I love how the empty shops have fabulous realistic posters showing shop interiors. Very clever. (Spot JR).

We had a look in at the bowling alley (Extra). It was terrific! Subdued lighting, booming - but not intrusive - music, with not only bowling alleys, but just about every game you could think of, including pétanque, table tennis, pool and various pinball machines. Also a pub and food - it would be an ideal party venue for a work group.

After a coffee and croissant, I’d had enough and came home, but JR was only just getting started. I was lucky with the tram and the bus home, and didn’t have to wait, though I did have to almost break into a run for a bus.

Archie and I went round the block, but we also popped in to see Mary. Archie is cute - he puts his feet up on her (glass) door to peer in to see if she’s there.

We’ve had leftover pea dip and crackers for tea. Yum yum. Recipe in yesterday’s extras.
