Flying In The Sunshine

........... a beautiful morning and really warm in the sun ;-))
I pushed my limits and walked down to the field that had the sunflowers that I blipped a few weeks ago. I was really pleased that I did because I saw more wildlife in an hour than I’ve seen all year this year .......... I saw hares playing as I went into the field, then the Heron flew over and several Red Kites flew really low overhead. Into the next field and I saw Blue Tits, Yellowhammers and Goldfinches feeding on the thistles........ then on the edge of the little bridge I spotted a Ruddy Darter flitting around ( main blip and 1st extra). A little further along I saw a Jay feeding on the sunflower heads ( but sadly he was a bit too far away for a good photo, so a cropped version in Extras). I walked to the end of the field feeling so warm I almost took my jacket off, when I saw the Egret fly over and land in the distance. I knew I was pushing my limits so I turned round and started walking back when suddenly about 20 Pheasants took flight after I accidentally startled them from inside the field of mature sunflowers ........ what a racket they made. Then to top it all I caught a brief glimpse of the Kingfisher....... too brief to even attempt a photo but a joy to see nonetheless.
All in all it was probably the most enjoyable walk I’ve had this year......... my only regret is that I’m not strong enough at the moment to carry my good camera and longest lens, which is why I missed most of the best shots but I’m just happy to have seen it all and get a reasonable blip ;-)))
