Another Exquisite Fall Day
We had a leisurely day followed by a walk in downtown Santa Fe late this afternoon. The temperature is quite chilly at night 31F/-.55C with mid afternoon temps around 64F/17.7C - with an exquisite blue sky and brilliant sun. We stopped into The Thunderbird Cafe http://thunderbirdsantafe.com/ which has a lovely protected outdoor deck that overlooks Santa Fe Plaza. We celebrated with a margarita and shared a fajita for an early dinner. A good long walk afterwards helped the digestion!
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is just off the plaza and has quite an interesting history if you’re so inclined to check it out. The original church was built on the site in 1610 by Franciscan friars. Of course that is ancient by US history but many ancient civilizations wandered the southwest long before that time. Tonight the facade flowed in the early evening sun, alongside a glowing Cottonwood Tree.
