Wet!

My gosh it rained today! It was a wind driven rain....darn miserable. But I braved the elements and drove over to Vancouver, Washington (just over the Columbia River from Portland) to meet a friend for lunch. Then I stopped in to see my grandchildren who were off from school today, and apparently germ free (fingers crossed). Finally home again just in time to see what was what around the gardens. Wet leaves is what I found! These are Parrotia persica or Persian Ironwood leaves. A member of the hazelnut family, this species shares the same gorgeous fall leaf colors with cousins Witch Hazel and Hazelnut.
