One last swim
I love walking without a purpose because sooner or later a great one appears. After sleeping late like a teenager I revised my plans of a predetermined walk in the Akamas.
I walked through the orange grove turned right at the beach and headed westwards. After a couple of kilometres I recognised the Limni pier (extra) in the distance which became my destination. It was once part of the copper economy here moving the stuff from the mines to ships and onwards. The pier was used commercially until late the late 70s and is now a recreational artefact popular with swimmers and fishers. The sea was a bit choppy so I kept the swim for later.
I have been informed that what I thought were grapefruit are in fact pomelo, related but different. I walked through orchards of them this morning. They look deliciously ripe but are no good for eating until January. I also walked amongst dragons, geckos some as big as hairless kittens, skitting along the beach tracks. Too fast and darty to blip.
After a sociable lunch I returned to the beach, swimming, watching, and reading until the sea turned hunter green and the sun set behind Neokhorió.
Tomorrow the Akamas, possibly. I think the bus timetable might be different on a Saturday.
