House on Bearsted Green

My lot in this house clearance lark seems to be preparation and painting. Skirting boards, doors and windowsills so far. Does anyone else loath skirting boards? Especially where you have to be careful not to get paint on the wall?

The brush never holds its shape, your hand jolts or slips as you’re trying to get a straight edge. And don’t mention all those little bits of fluff, hair and dust that comes from the carpet and get stuck in the paint even when you’ve cut the carpet away (the carpet is being replaced) and vacuumed and wiped it down?

Tomorrow is another painting day, with more variety. Ceiling in the dining room and ceiling and wall in the main bedroom. And we have the further delight of wrapping a mattress into a roll using a ratchet belt ready to take to the tip.

It was a relief to get out for a walk in the early evening and spot this nicely lit house on the Green.
