If I Had a Hammer

…I’d probably build it quicker but not as carefully! It might seem counter intuitive building new bits of furniture when we still have the carpets to be fitted, but the logic is that this little cabinet will contain stuff that is currently lying around on the floor. It also has wheels so can be easily moved out of the way when the carpet fitters arrive. That’s the theory anyway!
Naturally, I couldn’t resist the temptation to “tweak” things during the build. I always put a bit of glue on any dowels, to make those joints stronger, and I felt the drawer bottoms were a little flimsy so added a few well placed nails to firm things up a bit. It all went together pretty smoothly though and should be the ideal in the study once we get the new desk installed.
We took advantage of being down in Chester this morning, to do our weekly shop at Waitrose. We had a decent money off voucher for spending at least £40, so we indulged ourselves by buying more exotic fare than we normally get from M&S. Sweet Chilli Chicken Escalopes with Lime, Coconut and Coriander Rice for tea anyone?
I had hoped to go for a run this morning, but my chest felt very tight - no idea why. Still a bit tight this evening, but managed a good workout in the gym. We were the only ones in, so had Pink Floyd blasting out from the speakers whilst we did our exercises.
A busy week ahead now. We’ve actually not got a lot on, so can concentrate on getting the house as ready as possible for carpets, blinds and curtains. I don’t want a situation where we get offered an earlier than anticipated fitting and we have to turn it down because we’re not ready. There is still a very real possibility of nearly everything being completed before Christmas, and I will do whatever is necessary to make that possibility a reality.
