Dalsetter Broch

Showers first thing, dried up.  Light drizzle showers in the afternoon and rest of the day.  A right windy day too.

Another day working in the airport.  I was in the check-in desk in the morning, and then in the heli end for the rest of the day.  Not much moving today  with high waves offshore.  A lot of delays with schedule flights, even one cancelled, tech problems.  Poor Sammy hasn't had much luck with walkies this evening, hopefully stop raining soon and get out.  This has meant a lazy evening at home.

Another place I've seen for years, but never made it up close to.  Even though this broch was heavily robbed, it's still a dominant feature in the area.  In it's day, it must have been a massive broch, as it's still standing about 5m, and the outer wall is still clearly seen.  Due to survival, the broch has been robbed to build croft houses, outbuildings and dykes.  There is visible parts of the broch on the highest point, which looks like a part of a room.  Taken at Dalsetter broch, Vatchely, Dunrossness.
