A Day Of Two Halves

What a brilliant morning, the daily newspaper, a mug of ‘Caffeinated Violence’ filter coffee, a couple of kipper fillets and a slice of thickly buttered crusty bread in peace and quiet. The whole morning, all five hours was spent in peace and quiet.
Around 2pm it was time to make my way to the rugby club for our match against Newton Abbot, not far above us in the table it would be an opportunity to make up ground, unlikely but possible.

The pre match publicity on social media had promised us a day of “great rugby”, unfortunately none of it was on our pitch.
The match started with a two minute silence for one of the club members, Roger Charlton, who died this week.
On the pitch it became quickly apparent that this was going to be “another bad day at the office” as it is so often put on social media. Every time Newton Abbot entered Falmouth’s half they scored, for large parts of the match it looked like boys against men.

The clubhouse was packed, not always a good thing, but good to feel the buzz. I left early having had only a couple of beers.
Heart not in it.

Instead I came home and enjoyed a walk with Paddy, easily more enjoyable, much less frustrating.
