gold
Now that most of the trees are bare, the hazels are really standing out, with their big gold coin-like leaves glowing in the sun. I don't think I've ever noticed them so much as I have this year. There is a wealth of folklore concerning hazel trees, and I know for sure that their nuts are enjoyed by our local red squirrels. I have a lovely friend called Hazel...which makes me think..why don't we call children Oak or Beech, but do use the names Ash and Willow?
I haven't spent the whole day idly thinking on these things..but did manage to enjoy this beautiful cold sunny weather by going on a couple of walks. Also did some baking and made the tea.
Plus - it's bivvy night tonight :-)
