After Arwen
The storm passed over our heads last night. We heard the wind in the trees above us, but we are sheltered by the hill behind us and escaped with just a few branches torn off. And the bonus is that most of the leaves that were lying on the drive garden have disappeared, blown to Berwickshire, I guess.
Higher up the road, half a dozen spruces were uprooted and neatly lying as if they had been stacked, on top of the ditch. An old hawthorn was blown out of the hedge lower down, but it looked as if a passing tractor had shoved it to one side, so we were lucky and were able to get in and out without any problem.
This morning was very bright, the wind must have cleared the atmosphere. A little snow was sprinkled on the top of Ruberslaw. It was still windy, and the temperature was about 2 degrees. These ponies on the Dunion looked as if they were hoping someone was going to arrive with their rugs soon.
I must plant the last bulbs tomorrow, before the ground freezes solid.
