Diary of an Edinburgher

It’s nearly December - decorations up!

Another day of techie problems. I’d had two half hour phone calls with the help desk over STILL being locked out of my main email. And that was before I even got out of bed! The second chap decided to refer the problem to the IT department. I told him that I thought he WAS the IT department! I have a case reference number to ring them tomorrow if it’s not sorted by then.

Once I was up and had abandoned the email saga for the day, I had another techie test. My doctors’ surgery has decided to change the simple repeat prescription online service and it’s now obviously more professionally set up, possibly a national one. However, it involved downloading a PDF and filling in the details. Fortunately, I know how to do this using ‘mark up’, but it was time consuming. Then it had to be registered. And verified. But I’m happy to say - I’m all set up now for my supply of medication (thank you NHS) with only a couple of phone call queries to/from the surgery.

Hazel came over for a coffee before going off to try a new gym. She also brought a lovely (spare) Christmas wreath, so JR has taken that as an opportunity to begin the Christmas decorations. Well, it’s almost December…

I used a trick that Christine told me about when Rufus had a sore paw - to use an umbrella cover to protect his paw when he goes out. The plastic bag the vet gave us is very hard, very square, difficult to tie tightly and difficult to walk in. The umbrella cover is held tight with rubber bands and not a knot that he can pull open. He was almost skipping along when we went out this afternoon.

He slept a bit better last night, just wandering round once, but not wanting out, thank goodness.

Gosh, there are thousands of people across the country STILL without power from Friday’s storm. In these temperatures!
