A Dickensian scene

This is the Angel Hotel, or Posting House, in the middle of Guildford High Street. It has a 13th century undercroft and the main building dates back 500 years. It was an important staging post on the road from London to Portsmouth and numbers Charles Dickens among its past guests. You can imagine Mr Pickwick and his friends arriving on  a stage coach on their travels out of London.
