The Royal Armouries

This morning we went to the Royal Armouries!  A fantastic place to see weapons and armour of all sorts!  There were demonstrations every hour and we watched Battō - jutsu - Samouraï Sword Technique about a fast sword attack and how to get the razor sharp sword back into its scabbard without loosing a finger! 

Then at midday we watched two swordsmen give a demonstration of two handed sword fighting from the 1400s. They were using the broad sword.  Only the top foot or so is razor sharp on both sides.  Once that’s in you’re dead! After that there is an area of the blade that isn’t so sharp and you can grab that! Yours or if possible your opponents to turn their sword against them!  These swords are so much stronger than the Japanese swords seen earlier.  A very different way of fighting.

Lunch at the place was excellent! 

The whole area round the RA is very interesting too.  The extra is a building in the area with a message I love! 

This evening it has been art with my daughter and her friends!  So much fun and now some food!
