Maybe Not the Last

I spent much of the day with my mom (being Wednesday). She slept for much of the time, although her doc stopped in to check on her, for which she woke up. He said that someone had suggested a hospice evaluation, so we talked frankly about that. But she's not in pain and doesn't need meds managed, and although she's clearly at the end her life...we don't really have a sense of when that will be. So we decided to wait until we really have a reason. Then we tied at two games of backgammon ;-)

The sun gradually appeared today after a rainy day and evening. I wandered out to the garden when I got home and was surprised, once again, to see plants still in bloom. We're certainly having a mild winter so far, fingers crossed. There's nothing dire in the forecast so it's possible that we'll slide on into spring with many plants relatively unscathed. Always fun when that happens, which isn't too often.

This lovely rose is barely touched by frost and seems to be about to open up fully against that lovely blue sky! It's about 6' tall, so no, I wasn't doing any contortions to take its portrait. And Geranium 'Rozanne' is still hanging in...although this blossom looks a bit beat up (see extra).
