Our Village.
Our village is very pretty. I thought I'd try and capture it this evening. Struggled a bit with camera settings, and it was sooo cold. Couldn't wait to get back home and hit the wine!
This is our tree at night, looks better than the Trafalgar Square one (perhaps not during the daytime). On the bottom right is our War memorial, on the left is our chemist. The building with the leaded light windows (just behind the tree) is very old. These days its is a very successful chocolaterie, but many years ago it was the local National Westminster Bank. When Jodie was 4 months old, 40 years ago, I was offered a 'key job' cleaning job there. At the time J was working in London and getting back at all hours of the night. I've always worked and had my own money, so I took the job. It was brilliant, and over the years I ended up cleaning so many of the. various businesses in the village. I always thought about setting up a cleaning company, but I think I'm a bit of a control freak and felt no one could clean as well as I did. Little did I know how such businesses would flourish. Mind you, I also would look after dogs ..... Who would ever have thought 'Dog walking/sitting' would take off at such a rate? I have no regrets as to which path I chose as I was able to show and train my 4 dogs, and ride my horse whenever I pleased during the days, and be there at the school gates. Compared to the stress my daughters have, raising a family and coping with a career, I feel I was from a luckier generation.
