Before the Carol Concert
This is the inside of the Landmark Centre, previously a church. It was a church for a short time, despite there being a more modest sized parish church across the road. The anticipated large congregation did not materialise and it was unused for quite a while until 1995 when it was repaired and opened as an Arts centre.
Each year they have a Carols by Candlelight concert and I have never managed to get to it so this year I volunteered as a steward and put it in my diary ages ago.
This is a photo taken before any of the audience arrived.
Unfortunately quite a few of the ticket holders did not show up due to the surge in COVID numbers. Also a school choir which was meant to be performing also pulled out. However the Surrey Brass group and the adult choir were very good.
There were six carols for the audience to join in but with mask wearing compulsory that was very odd…..it’s the first time I’ve tried to sing in a mask and I am not aiming to repeat it!
