Just do it!

When Milly came to stay last week, she brought this embroidery kit with her. Abi promptly picked it up and started to sew (if that's the correct term for embroidering).

She picks up arts and crafts from time to time and never makes a big deal of her accomplishments. There was a period when she took up drawing and some of the work she did was amazing but then - perhaps once she'd satisfied herself - she (apparently) stopped.

When we sat around in the evenings chatting, last week, Abi would sit there sewing. In a way, of course, it seemed oddly anachronistic, but then one quickly saw the pleasure to be had in it, keeping one's hands occupied whilst dipping in and out of conversation.

Not that I'm tempted to take up embroidery: my effort would look nothing like that! But I do admire Abi's unfussed approach: just do it.
