Tuesday: Staying Put

That refers to both us, and the snow.

So…..this morning, we went to turn on the water for a short while so we could refill pots and pans etc, and have showers…………no water.  At all.  Added to that, the boiler pressure has dropped sufficiently for it to go out and it’s one of these highly technical ones that we don’t know how to relight.

The letting agent took pity on us and brought round better heaters which, for now, are doing the trick.  And he also brought lots of bottled water.  He ‘may’ have found a plumber who ‘might’ come tomorrow.

The increasing number of inconveniences is getting quite entertaining.  For now, we’re still huddled, unwashed, in the one warm room.

On the plus side, our friend, Janice, drove for an hour through the snow to bring us a care package that included blankets, popcorn and tangerines.

On the Covid front, we’re not too bad.  My main side effect is a complete loss of taste and smell.  K. is really missing my usually enthusiastic responses to her cooking as all I’m getting is texture.  I was a bit worried to read that it can take anywhere from 21 days to a year to come back.  I’ll keep you posted!
