beyond expectations

Reader, I am home! I have spent most of today travelling by train and to my surprise, everything was running smoothly and on time. Five trains - from Uckfield - East Croydon - St Pancras (walked to) Kings Cross - Newcastle - Carlisle - Dumfries. It might be quicker up the West Coast but I always find it smoother on the East, and no more expensive.

The photo is of a Lumo train, the first time I've ever travelled on one. Everything seemed good except that my charger plug wouldn't fit into the socket but the kind woman next to me lent me hers. It's always a worry when you have an e-ticket (I did have a back up power bank in my bag as well).

So now I'm back in front of a nice fire with Jess and D is making me a cup of tea...
