Eucla

Last town in West Australia (heading east) before crossing into South Australia. Town may be an exaggeration! It’s mostly about servicing travellers. Population 53, if everyone’s home!

A dirt road down to the beach takes you to a derelict telegraph station and remnants of a pier. I popped a photo we took last time we were here in extras.

We passed some Australian oddities on the way to Eucla.
1. Three wide sections of the Eyre Highway that serve as landing strips for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. (When needed, the police close the road while the plane lands.)
2. The ‘90 mile straight’. The longest, straight piece of road in Australia. It is laser-straight for 150 km.
