Three Coins in the Fountain

Please excuse my rather pathetic attempt to stitch together the top and bottom of the jet of water from this fountain in the Trafford Centre. It’s actually quite an impressive sight, but it’s very difficult to capture, especially when you only have a phone camera.
Which is a little part of why we had travelled down to Manchester this morning. Mrs C’s iMac has reached the end of its updates (its a 2013 model) and will not run the Photoshop/Lightroom programmes she uses. It seems only a new iMac or MacBook will restore full functionality. But it’s not possible just to wander into the Apple store, you have to pre-book an appointment.
I said if she was booking one for her, she could book me in as well as I was thinking of upgrading my phone. As the appointments were only for 15 minutes, she did a lot of prep work beforehand and I knew I’d only need 5 minutes to reach a decision so said she could have the balance of my appointment.
In fact, it didn’t even take that long. Keypad on an iPhone 13 Mini is just too small for my stubby fingers, so that one was out of the running straight away. Did a camera comparison between my iPhone XR, an iPhone 13 and an iPhone 13 Pro, which confirmed what I’d feared - if I want a better camera, I need the Pro. And there the discussion ended. I want one and the camera is a lot better, but it’s not £950 better. I will probably wait until some pre-owned ones appear on the market and save a bit of money.
So I went off to look at the fountain, leaving Mrs C in the care of the assistant. I didn’t want to influence her (I don’t really understand Macs anyway) and said she should get what is best for her needs and not worry about the cost. I even (foolishly?) said she could use my credit card to pay for it.
Half an hour later, she emerged beaming broadly and carrying a bag containing a MacBook Pro. On the basis that the credit card company didn’t try to contact me to confirm the transaction was genuine, I’ll assume it was not exorbitantly expensive, but I think I’ll wait until the statement arrives next month to find out for certain!
But I do wonder when will be the right time to confess that I ordered two new guitars yesterday…
