A CHANGE OF MIND - AGAIN!
I had looked at the theme for today’s Abstract Thursday and took several different shots of a garlic bulb and was quite pleased with them, but changed my mind when I went to meet my Blip friend, Debbie, AKA Mindful_life.
She works just over the road from the David Lloyd Gym where we always meet, but as I was there a few minutes before her, was chatting to Greg, the friendly fella who was manning this stand. He was trying to catch the attention of the men who come and go from the gym, but not many of them seemed to be interested and just rushed by, obviously keen to get to their weights and running machines etc.
I took several shots and of course, as I do, mentioned to Greg about Blip and how we have a month called “Pinktober”, to remind ladies to go and have a mammogram, so said that I would make this my photograph today for all the fellas on Blip to remind them how important it is for them to look after their health too.
I knew about PSA tests that men can have at their GP surgery, but he said that they weren’t that reliable, but they hoped a new kind of test that had been developed would be much more reliable. I did ask if he had any leaflets, but he said that since Covid, they weren’t allowed to have any, so he just has to explain it to people instead.
I think the other reason for him being there was to sign people up to obtain more funds in order that these new tests could be rolled out more quickly. I feel it’s a shame that charities like this don’t allow us to donate there and then, as I’m sure that many of them would benefit, but that’s no longer allowed, so it’s Greg’s job to try and get people to sign up to make monthly payments. They must get some signing up, but I didn’t today; however, I have looked at the website and will chat to Mr. HCB about the test and see whether he needs to speak to his GP.
So if you are a fella and reading this, perhaps you need to have this conversation with someone too.
In other news, I am feeling much better today - it was just a little blip yesterday (excuse the pun) but thank you all most sincerely for your kind and encouraging comments. My finger has been triggering today, which used to be quite painful, but it’s not as bad as it was, so I am grateful for that and hope that with time, it will stop doing it.
