Lobby Bridge

In the old days , before Cumbria was created, the River Winster was the boundary between Lancashire and Westmorland. Bridge maintenance was the county's responsibility, not the parish, who appointed a surveyor and two assistants to look after all county buildings and structures, including bridges. As this bridge spanned the boundary, arguments would ensue over repairs  Now it's solely a parish boundary. 
Its a fine bridge,  with its name proudly carved the other side. See extras.

I spent the day exploring the Lyth Valley (by car) slowly  while Mr P ran the 24 mile Lyth Valley Challenge.  I had a bag of spare clothes , shoes etc in the car, just in case.............
