Reflected in the Squares

I went out today with a friend, and a loose agenda to take some shots of city architecture. A lot of architecture speaks for itself and can be appreciated for what it is in its entirety. Sometimes though the detail and the way that buildings interact with their surroundings can also be fascinating. The reflective surfaces on the side of this building created abstract patterns from neighbouring buildings that constantly changed with minor changes to the point of view.
It was a great end to the month, and another step on my visual songline. Although I found the city and it’s possibilities initially a bit overwhelming, I did find something I really liked in this image. For me it is one of my favourite images of the year though I feel a bit as though I have stepped into unknown territory!
The other highlight of today was stopping by the Plymouth Archaeological Society site near the Mayflower Steps and talking to a member of the society who showed us some of the finds. An amazing insight into our historical heritage and the value the more wealthy placed on fine  ceramics from abroad, whilst most people would have been fortunate to have food served from plain, brown pottery.
An odd mix today of the old and the new!
