Theddlethorpe & Saltfleetby Dunes
Went out to escape the madness. The house feels so cold as I am working from home and sat in a draft because the front door (which we don't normally use) is being opened and left open whilst rubbish is removed from the bathrooms and materials to rebuild it are bought in. I literally felt ill as I was cold and had a headache so went out for some fresh air and a bit of 'mindfulness'. I only did 0.6 of a mile but it took me a good hour as I kept stopping to admire the scenery and watch two pairs of birds that I think were marsh harriers hovering above the trees hoping that they would change direction and fly nearer to me. I have attached a rubbish pic in extras if anyone is a birder. I also have lost some of my fieldcraft skills. I saw something that looked out of place and normally I would have known it was something unusual today I saw it turned around and took another scenery shot, coughed and turned back to see three white bottoms disappearing into the long grass, they has been so close and would have made a beautiful blip - but no Muntjac dear for me today. Maybe next time. My blip is the view over the salt marsh that has been newly reclaimed from the buckthorn that has been cut down to allow the marshes to fill back to how they should be. The whole site looked so different from the last time I was there, so much had been removed or prunes hard back. I wonder if this will affect the wildlife and if it will be for the better or not. Only time will tell.
