Divided phlox

An element of the 1st semester of my horticultural course that I particularly enjoyed was learning how to divide mature plants properly, using 2 garden forks.

One of the students had brought phlox from her garden for practice, which we divided into a dozen small plants and we got to take home our divided plant.

This is my phlox. It's been in the greenhouse since the autumn and it's started growing new shoots.

It always feels very exciting when you make a new plant out of a mature one.
