First Jerusalem artichokes

I can't believe these are the first Jerusalem artichokes I've had this winter - and they're not even mine!! A friend gave them to me after I said I couldn't harvest mine as it means digging, which I can't do with my ongoing sciatica pain. 

Some people would do anything to have Jerusalem artichokes taken off their hands but I love them (in moderation obviously...). Plus beggars can't be choosers; there isn't much in the veg patch at the moment, especially with all the broccoli plants that were killed in the last frosts.
